About Tiger Awareness

Tiger Awareness was formed in 1998 to give the public more awareness on the plight of the tiger.
We are a voluntary non-profit making charity and give free talks to schools, the public, and other organisations. All donations and funds raised go towards tiger projects.

Donations
2010
We helped with some equipment for an organisation
called Vision India who are working on the peripheries
of Dudwha National Park.
We supported Tigerwatch with a motorcycle to help
their anti poaching and research team. We also gave
some funds to help with a study of the Keladevi
Sanctuary, which is an important corridor from the
National Park in Ranthambhore. In Ranthambhore we
also purchased some mosquito nets for the forest
guards and helped at a school close to the border
of the park. |

I arrived in Bandhavgarh on November 26th at around
9.30 am, my cycle and equipment all arrived with
me safely. I built up the bike later that day
after the afternoon safari, where we observed
some Tigers though they where at a distance. November
27th, took the morning safari where we also observed

Our Projects
We work in India at present which is where there are approximately 50% of the world’s wild tigers. We work in the Sundarbans and have provided funds to help in:
- Sundarbans
- Ranthambhore
- Buxa
- Jharkhand
- Bandhavgarh
We have also supplied a small amount of medical items for the hospital on Satjelia island.
We have set up a cattle compensation scheme, with our partners monitoring cases. In December 2008, we compensated 21 villagers for loss of cattle to the tiger
in the Khitauli area, which is outside the Bandhavgarh National Park.
In addition, Tiger Awareness has also supplied:
- mosquito nets, cycles and binoculars to forest guards in Ranthambhore
- bicycles in Buxa for the daily wage staff to help them move more easily around the forest
- stretchers to help the sick people in the remote hills in Buxa Duar
- sleeping bags
- binoculars for the forest guards so as to help them in their duty to protect the forest and its mammals.
We have recently supplied a Tato Sumo vehicle to be used in all areas of conservation with our partners ICNL in Kolkata.
We have supplied funds for a water project in Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary, Jharkhand and in the Sunderbans.
More Donation of Funds - 2009
We have given some funds to help on Satjelia Island in the Sundarbans
after Cyclone Aila - the island was devastated. There were many Tigers
displaced due to the cyclone.
We compensated 20 plus villagers for cattle lifted by Tiger outside
Bandhavgarh National Park.
