I have had many great encouners with the beautiful golden beasts, and quietly try to get lodge and camp owners to help the local people to also benefit from the presence of the tigers in the parks. Subsequent to Tiger Awareness’ kit-distribution to all the forest guards in Bandhavgarh tiger reserve, I went around and met a few of them. I am happy to inform you that that they were very happy, and reiterated their resolve and commitment to their duty. This goes to show that such gestures of support from NGOs are positively instrumental in motivating the lowly-paid staff. And it also places additional responsibility on both Tiger Awareness and Vunraksha to take up more projects of support to the Forest Department as well as local communities in Bandhavgarh.
